Robert Burns Centre Box Office Opening Times:

  • The Film Theatre doors open 30 minutes before the first film starts.
  • In addition, the box office is open for telephone bookings during evening film screenings

Ticket prices - unless otherwise stated:

  • Adult £7.00
  • Access Cinema £3.50
  • Young Scot Card £3.50
  • 16 years old and under £3.50
  • CEA card holder plus carer £7.00
  • School Booking - pupils £3.50 (Teachers/classroom assistants go free)
  • Access apply to those in receipt of Universal Credit, Job Seeker’s Allowance (Income Based), Employment and Support Allowance (Income Based), Pension Credit, Income Support and children aged 16 and under and Young Scot Card Holders. Please provide proof of eligibility such as an Award Letter, Customer Journal or Young Scot card.

Advance Bookings

  • Due to our limited seating capacity, customers must book in advance. At busy times you may hear the answerphone message; we ask you to bear with us during periods of heavy demand. If you are experiencing difficulty contacting the box office, please try again in the evening. Online booking is also available although booking fees apply.
  • All performances are bookable in advance online, or by telephone during evening film screenings - 01387 264808. You can also book tickets by phone at the Midsteeple Box Office - 01387 253383, Tue to Sat 10am to 1pm.
  • Please phone before making a postal booking to check availability. Postal bookings must be accompanied by contact details and cheque made payable to Dumfries & Galloway Council.
  • Programmes are subject to change, but only in extraordinary circumstances.

Seat Reservations

  • All seats are reserved at the time of booking. If you require a wheelchair space please let us know.


  • Tickets cannot be exchanged nor money refunded except in the event of a cancellation of a performance.

Eating & Drinking in the Cinema

  • You are welcome to bring snacks for main features, children's films and Wee Film Club. Please take all rubbish home with you.

Family Films

  • Although we normally disapprove of people talking during screenings, for films that are primarily for kids, grown-ups should expect some noise!

School Groups

  • We welcome school visits. Please email with your request.

Gift Vouchers

  • Give the gift of a quality movie experience with a RBCFT Gift Voucher - the perfect, inexpensive gift idea. Vouchers are available from the box office.

Venue Hire

General Access Information

  • The Film Theatre is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs and has an accessible toilet. The cinema has space for 4 wheelchair users - advance booking these spaces is recommended.
  • There is a disabled badge holder’s space in the car park. The restaurant area and museum on the first floor can be reached via a stair lift.
  • The auditorium is fitted with a loop receiver which is suitable for people with hearing aids with a T switch.
  • The RBC accepts the CEA Card (Cinema Exhibitors’ Association Card). This is a national card that can be used to verify that the holder is entitled to one free ticket for a person accompanying them to the cinema.The card holder is charged at Full Ticket price (currently £6)

    For regular screenings, CEA Card holders will be entitled to one free ticket for a person accompanying them to the cinema.
  • For Access Cinema screenings, anyone who needs to bring along a helper to assist them in any way, will receive a complimentary ticket.

Access Cinema

  • For most of the films in our programme we can schedule a special Access daytime screening for groups of 10 or more visitors buying a ticket. The RBCFT will do its best to provide a suitable environment to meet the groups’ needs. Anyone who needs to bring along a helper to assist them in any way, will receive a complimentary ticket.
  • We can do the following:
    • Facilitate wheelchair access.
    • Provide a ‘low sensory environment’ where the films have no subtitles, the volume is turned down, the house lights left on low, and adults and children are able to make noise and move around if need be.
    • Facilitate hearing loop users.
  • We are also able to provide an auditory description system for blind or partially sighted customers. These films are noted in our brochure and online.

  • Please note, due to licensing agreements, not all films can be considered for an Access Cinema screening.
